Do I spel guod?

Napanood ko na naman sa ESPN ang aking favorite sport - Spelling!

Nakakaamaze kasi ang mga bata sa pagspell ng words na kay Miriam Defensor-Santiago ko lang ata maririnig. Eto, watch this video:

Nagpunta ako sa website nila. Pati yata si Inday, manonosebleed sa mga ibinigay nilang mga words. Tingnan natin ang word list ng nanalo sa 2007 Scripps National Spelling Bee na si Evan O’Dorney.

Oh. Kung sino ba naman di manosebleed dyan. Mukha lang siyang madali kasi nakikita niyo na yung words. Pero yung actual na maririnig mo lang yung word at kung anu anu pang definition eh kulang na lang eh mahimatay ka. Tulad nito:

Naghanap ako sa dictionary ng 10 words na most likely lalabas or lumabas na sa mga spelling bees. Eto ang mga yun:

  1. pozzolana (pot sow lana) - a poron’s variety of volcanic tuff or ash used in making hydraulic cement.
  2. klaberjass (kla ber yas) - a German card game.
  3. lekythos (le ki thos) - an oil jar with an ellipsoidal body, narrow nest and flanged mouth.
  4. wapatoo (wo pa too) - an arrowhead plant.
  5. cautery (ko te ree) - an escharotic substance or a hot iron used to destroy tissue.
  6. jube (joo bee) - a screen with an upper platform, separating the choir of a church from the nave and often supporting a rood.
  7. schlieren (shleer en) - streaks in an igneous rock.
  8. weltansicht (velt an zikht) - a world view
  9. duomo (dwo mo) - cathedral
  10. Yahrzeit (Yar tsayt) - a Jewish anniversary of a death of a relative.

Ayan, kapag sumali na kayo sa isang spelling bee, isapuso ang mga nakita niyong words dito. Baka kayo pa ang manalo. Kapag naispell niyo ng tama ang words na ito, kasingtuwa na kayo ng nasa video na ito:
